What is Dexnay World?

Dexnay World is a welcoming gateway to the decentralized web. Learn the basics, meet the community and explore at your own pace.

Learn the basics

Short, plain-language explainers. This page is purely educational: there is no live swap, no wallet connection and no form of any kind here.

This site never handles your keys

Dexnay World never asks for, stores or transmits real seed phrases, recovery phrases, passphrases or private keys, anywhere on this site. There is no field to type them into, and there never will be. If any page, message or person asks for them, it is a scam.

Swap

A token swap exchanges one crypto token for another, for example turning some ETH into a stablecoin. This section only explains the idea: there is no swap widget on this page.

  • Swaps are usually executed by a smart contract that holds pools of tokens and calculates a price from their balances.
  • The price you are quoted can change before your transaction is confirmed. This difference is called slippage, and wallets let you set a maximum slippage you accept.
  • Every swap pays a network (gas) fee, and often a small pool or protocol fee as well.
  • Before swapping a token, your wallet may ask you to approve a spending allowance. Only approve what you need, and revoke approvals you no longer use.
  • Confirmed swaps are generally irreversible. Always check the token addresses and final amounts in your wallet before confirming.

Paper Wallet

A paper wallet is a way of keeping a key or recovery phrase completely offline, written or printed on paper. This section is educational only: this site does not generate, print or check paper wallets.

  • Because it is never on an internet-connected device, a paper wallet is protected from online malware while it stays in storage.
  • Paper can burn, fade, get wet, be lost or be photographed. Anyone who sees it can take the funds.
  • To spend from it, you must import the key into wallet software, which exposes it to that device. Many people treat a paper wallet as a one-time cold storage and move everything out at once.
  • Never create a paper wallet with an online generator you do not fully trust, and never scan or photograph it with your phone.
  • Today, many people prefer a hardware wallet, with its recovery phrase backed up on paper or metal.

Decentralized Exchange (DEX)

A decentralized exchange (DEX) is a set of smart contracts that lets people trade tokens directly from their own wallets, without depositing funds with a company.

  • You keep custody of your assets until the moment the trade executes: no account, no deposit, no withdrawal step.
  • Most DEXs use liquidity pools funded by other users (automated market makers) instead of a traditional order book.
  • Anyone can list a token on many DEXs, so fake and copycat tokens are common. Verify the contract address from an official source.
  • There is no support desk that can reverse a trade or recover funds sent to the wrong address.
  • Smart contracts can contain bugs, and front-ends can be imitated by phishing sites. Use bookmarked, official addresses only.

Seed-based Self-Custody Explained

Most modern wallets are backed up with a recovery phrase (also called a seed phrase), usually following the BIP39 standard. From that single phrase, a wallet can recreate all of your accounts on any compatible device.

  • A standard BIP39 recovery phrase is 12 words long, chosen from a fixed list of 2048 English words. Some wallets use 24 words instead; both are standard.
  • The words must be kept in the exact order. Together they encode the secret from which your private keys are derived.
  • Some wallets let you add an optional passphrase on top of the 12 words for extra security. It is not a word of the phrase itself and it is not required: the wallet works without it.
  • With a passphrase, someone who finds your 12 words alone cannot open the same wallet. But if you forget the passphrase, nobody can recover it for you, and the funds behind it are lost.
  • If you use a passphrase, back it up separately from the 12 words, just as carefully.
  • Write the phrase by hand on paper or metal and store it offline. Never type it into a website, chat, email, form or support ticket.

Stay safe: self-custody best practices

With self-custody, you alone control your crypto assets, and you alone are responsible for protecting them. These habits help reduce risk. They cannot remove it.

  • Never share your recovery phrase

No one from Dexnay World will ever ask for your recovery (seed) phrase or private keys. Never type them into a website, chat, form, email or support ticket. Anyone who has them can move your assets.

  • Back it up offline

Write your recovery phrase on paper or metal and store it somewhere safe and private. Avoid screenshots, cloud storage, photos, notes apps and password managers synced online.

  • Check every address

Bookmark the official portal and use that bookmark. Look carefully for lookalike domains, misspellings and sponsored search results that imitate real sites.

  • Read before you sign

Review every transaction and token approval in your wallet before confirming. If you do not understand a request, reject it. Revoke approvals you no longer use.

  • Keep your devices clean

Keep your system and wallet software up to date, avoid unknown browser extensions, and consider a hardware wallet to keep keys off internet-connected devices.

  • Start small

When trying a new wallet, network or feature, send a small test amount first and confirm it arrives as expected.

Dexnay World provides general educational information only. Nothing on this page is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and we make no promise of returns, gains or protection against loss. Crypto assets are volatile and you can lose some or all of what you hold.

Frequently asked questions

What is a swap?

A swap exchanges one token for another, usually through a smart contract. Prices can move between the quote and the confirmation (slippage), and network fees apply. Always review the final amounts shown in your wallet before confirming.

What is a DEX?

A decentralized exchange (DEX) lets you trade directly from your own wallet without handing your assets to a company. It also means there is no support desk that can reverse a transaction, and smart contracts can contain bugs.

What is a paper wallet?

A paper wallet is a key or recovery phrase printed or written on paper and kept offline. It can be damaged, lost or photographed, and spending from it requires importing the key into software. Many people now prefer hardware wallets.

What is a recovery (seed) phrase?

It is a list of words, usually 12 or 24, that can restore your wallet on any compatible device. Some wallets also support an optional extra passphrase. Treat the whole phrase like the master key to your assets.

Will Dexnay ever ask for my recovery phrase?

No. Never. Dexnay World, its portal and its team will never ask you to enter, send or confirm your recovery phrase or private keys. Any website, message or person asking for it is a scam.

How do I recognise the official portal?

Use the button on this page, then bookmark the portal. Check the domain spelling in the address bar every time, and never follow portal links from unsolicited messages, direct messages or ads.

Can Dexnay guarantee profits or recover lost funds?

No. We do not promise any gains or returns. Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible, and a lost recovery phrase cannot be restored by anyone.
